How the DLS Method Works
When rain or another stoppage shortens a limited-overs match, simply reducing overs equally isn’t fair — a team chasing with fewer overs also has different risk decisions to make. The DLS method solves this by converting overs remaining and wickets in hand into a single “resources” percentage for each team, then rescales the target proportionally.
